Cross-Type Evolution?

I am new to this.
I have a couple cards that are basic in one type and stage 1 in another type and wondering if the basic can evolve into the stage 1 even though they are different types.
Example:
I have Spinarak - Dark type card
I have a Ariados - Grass type card
Can my Spinarak (dark) still evolve into Ariados (grass)?
Thank You in advance!

Yes it can! The only requirement is that the name matches what's on the evolution card. Example: Your Ariados card says "Evolves from Spinarak."
If there were a rule that types had to match upon evolution, then no one would ever be able to evolve an Eevee in the TCG since none of its evos are Colorless (Normal) type.
