Nods. So here's how Death rolls work. If you don't choose options 1 or 2, option 3 has you risk it all. A roll with Fear is auto -fail. If it's with Hope, you clear HP or Stress based on the value of the Hope dice value. Crits clear everything(HP and Stress). It does not clear Armor so once that's gone, its gone.

So, I would roll 2D12 and if my hope is higher, then depending on the number, I survive?

You can mitigate Magic with Armor. Also you're still in favored stance unless you take Severe damage. So that's 13 + Favored(+2 I think).

How much hp does that put you at?

If you take Major damage that would require your HP to go to 0 you'd do a death roll. If Hope Dice is higher than Fear, you gain HP equal to value on Hope dice. If you crit, you auto succeed. So if you roll with Hope and it's value is 5, you'll get all your HP back.
