How do you decide how you like a game?

Story is probably the most important thing for me. Everything else is icing on the cake. That's not to say a game without a story is bad, but for me, the best kinds of games are plot driven. Sadly, that's why I don't love Pokemon games as much as I used to. There's only been a couple of times when I can say I felt truly invested in the world and even those moments were fleeting. I'm not saying the games should undergo some radical change to fit my specific tastes, but that's unfortunately how I feel.
