I'm so glad you asked!
You see, there was a psychologist named John B Watson (wait, I think it was John... I know Watson is right though) that believed that nurture, or the way you raised a child is the only important thing in one's thoughts and personality and nature, or the genetic make up of a person, doesn't influence you
To prove this, he took a baby (6 or 9 month old I can't remember which) named Albert and introduced him to a small white rat
Albert had no problem with the rat, in fact seeming pretty happy to meet it
Well, to prove you could program a person to fear something, Watson would use a loud scary noise any time the baby would get close the rat, making Albert associate the animal with a scary sound, thus creating a fear of the rat
Yes, the experiment proved right that you can force fear into a person
However, the fear didn't stop at white rats...
Albert became afraid of literally anything white and fuzzy, even breaking into terrified tears when he saw Santa Claus
Watson never tried to undo the trauma he gave the kid...
And that's the Little Albert Experiment!
