HOW DID HE DO THAT !🔥

I was watching a Pokémon YouTube video (hmm, already said this, but it was on YouTube). Anyway, I was watching part of an episode called During the Johto League Silver Conference." In the match between Ash and Gary in the episode "Can't Beat the Heat!", Ash's Charizard faces Gary's Golem. But Ash's Charizard took out Golem in one hit. The question that I have is: Golem was taken out in a single hit, so why does this moment baffle hardcore fans of the video games? Because in the show, it does. But why doesn't it do that in the games?
