How does matchmaking in Ranked work?

Does it match me with players with point count close to mine? Does it match players in the Poke League only with players in the Poke League, or can I get matched with players from the Great League once I am close enough to the Great League pointwise, even though I am still in the Poke League?

How does this work? I tried searching for an answer but couldn't find anything.

Is there a hidden MMR or do we go by points/league only?

Okay, I have just played with someone with 720 points while having 480 myself, meaning it IS cross-league. I won and I have still only got +20.

Also, do you not find it a bit odd, that you can win 2 matches, lose 3, and still be climbing? 40% winrate looks weird for someone who is (very slowly) climbing the ladder.

I think the game prioritize players with similar rank but there's no rank limit for who can play against you.

I'm currently in the 700's and most of the time my opponents have similar rank, but i have played against some 2000+ players before.

points win/lose are based on your current rank, not your opponent.

And for the second part, most games do that for lower ranks. You need higher winrates to climb in higher Tiers.

Okay, in Great League you lose 20 and win 20 points so you have to have a win rate better than 50 percent to climb.
