Chapter 7: Reckless Flying

I am clinging to Rayquaza's back for dear life as we fly through the purple clouds, the dragon doing loops and spins to avoid incoming lightning. I feel like it is doing flashy stunts just to be a "cool Legendary," but with it being the only my only way to get to Mewtwo and Mew I keep my mouth shut and let it fly. While I'm scared to death right now Zane is having the time of his life.

"THIS IS AMAZING!!!" he cheers as Rayquaza does a loop-the-loop (YES!!! A full loop with TWO LIVING BEINGS ON ITS BACK!!!) to avoid a black bolt. I hold tighter onto its emerald scales, squeezing my eyes shut. This is the end! I can feel it!

THIS IS YOUR FAULT!!! I silently scream at Arceus. After a few seconds of it being silent, I add I KNOW YOU HERE ME YA OVERSIZED HORSE!!!

I'M A QUILIN!!! It shouts back with rage. I silently smirk to myself with pride. If I'm about meet my end, at least I know I angered this stupid god right before. Stop being pathetic, it says with a disappointed sigh. You're going to survive this.

IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT!!! I respond with panic as Rayquaza does three spins past more lightning. I'm on probably one of the most reckless transports in the world! And I've been in the car while Ma was driving!

Arceus let's out a chuckle, which deeply annoys me. Young one-

Don't call me that, I snap, getting a sad sigh from the Mythical.

Sofia. You're not going to die. I won't allow it, it tells me, which I shake my head at.

I'm still mortal at the end of the day, I tell it. I can feel Arceus smile gently at me.

And I am a god, it counters, which I roll my eyes at. You're safe with me.

I'm about to mock its words but then Rayquaza suddenly bursts out the violet storm, allowing me to take a deep breath of relief. "Finally out of there," I mutter as the Sky High Pokémon steadies its flight. I immediately relax onto its back, my grip becoming gentle.

"Bro, when the world is safe and stuff you HAVE to do this again with me," Zane exclaims, still shaking from the excitement. The Legendary laughs.

"Only if you battle me again," it replies with a small smile. "I need to prove that I'm better than you!"

"HA!!! I accept! But only because I know I'll win again," the Infernape remarks with an arrogant smirk. Rayquaza rolls its eyes with a scoff.

"Oh, please. I only lost because I was being used by a rubbish battler," the Legendary shoots back, a mix of being playful and defensive.

Zane begins to argue, but a Shadow Ball suddenly comes flying at us! Rayquaza acts fast, quickly rolling and barely managing to avoid the black and purple orb. But I, who had just let go of its back to sit more comfortably, get yeeted off.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" I scream as I am launched through the air. My monkey immediately leaps off the dragon's back, catching me by the wrist.

"I've got ya Sof," he states with a relieved smile.

"And I've got you," Rayquaza adds as it swoops in and catches Zane. Just for a better visual, Rayquaza is holding Zane by the feet, who is holding me by my wrist, who is dangling over deep and endless ocean. I AM TERRIFIED!!!

Okay… So, I'll be honest, I didn't see that coming and wasn't prepared. You'd probably be dead right now if it weren't for them, Arceus tells me in my head. I internally glare at it but say nothing.

"We'll land there," the Dragon/Flying type says, nodding towards a random giant purple platform that is floating in front of us.

"This was conveniently placed," my Pokémon points out as he stares at it. "Maybe a little help from Arceus?"

That wasn't me… the god says with caution in my head.

"No…" I tell the other two as we begin to land. "This is something else.."

We don't stop, though. We land gently, me on my feet, Zane on his face, and Rayquaza hovering just a bit above the surface. I take a quick look around and see that purple storm is still there, circling us but keeping a decent distance away. We're in the center of the chaos.

"I'm impressed you got here," a voice says from above. I look up and see a woman in a long amethyst colored robe descending upon us. Mewtwo and Mew are at her side, the two having the same device on their forehead the Hoenn trio did. "But, then again, you are the Chosen One! You should be somewhat of a challenge."

As this woman hits the ground, her long black hair bounces, still frizzed up from the wind up here. I wonder how my hair looks right now… WAIT I'm getting side tracked!

"Too bad I can't say the same for you," I snap back with a smirk, my eyes locked into her brown ones. The enemy simply laughs, shaking her head.

"My, my! What confidence! Feeling good after the win against Lucius, I see!" She begins walking closer, slowly but powerfully. She holds herself high, looking down on me with cruel intent. "Well he wasn't that good of a trainer. Me, though. I'm actually worthy of this power."

"Told ya my guy was weak," Rayquaza tells Zane with a smirk.

"I'm still better," the Infernape responds.

"Cut it out, you two," I command, getting annoyed. The woman stops a couple meters ahead of me, watching me as if I'm a puzzle and she's already figured me out. "Listen, I really don't want to fight. I mean that more than you could possibly understand. So let's make this easy on the both of us and surrender already. Spares you a humiliating loss and me from doing something I hate."

My enemy has the audacity to laugh! A pure, whole-hearted laugh! "Oh, dear child! You really think you're something," she exclaims as she regains her composure. "I can't wait to destroy you!"

The woman gives a snap of her fingers fingers and the two Pokemon behind her begins to use their psychic power, their eyes glowing as energy bursts off them. The force is so strong that Zane has to put a hand on my back to keep me from blowing away! And even he's struggling to stay grounded! She then snaps again and both Pokemon stop, all the force suddenly stopping like it never happened.

I stand in place, temporarily dazed. Okay… Maybe I underestimated their strength. "Zane… I love ya man. And I know you're strong. I know your strength better than anyone. But-"

"Ray, we gonna need some help with this," my monkey says, looking over at the Legendary beside him.

"Would you mind," I ask, my tone hopeful.

"Not at all," Rayquaza answers, taking a battle stance. I nod with a smile and face the enemy again, who suddenly looks intruiged.

"So you get a Legendary, too, huh," she inquires, not actually asking. "This might actually be fun then." She then randomly gasps, covering her mouth. "Oh, dear! Where are my manners! I have yet to introduce myself! I am Genova. Remember the name for it shall be the one that sends your soul to Arceus!"

"Unfortunately he already has mine…" I grumble, earning a chuckle from the white llama (QUILIN!!!). I then sigh and Zane walks ahead, getting ready to fight. "Alright, let's get this over with."
