Bug on dead Caterpie
Hello there,
in my last game my oponnent had a Caterpie 40hp with Quick growth ability in play
I attack with igglybuff Sleepy lullaby for 10dmg and 2 triggers of Darkrai Bad Dreams happen, then Caterpie hp becomes 0 and then he evolves.
He was 0hp but didnt die and then evolved.
Is this a bug?

Not a bug, it's working as intended... following the TCG rules, Knock Out checks only happen at the end of the Pokemon Checkup (between turns), after all concurrent effects resolve.
So, since Caterpie's Quick Growth and Darkrai's Bad Dreams trigger at the same time, Caterpie is allowed to evolve before the game checks for KOs... its max HP increases so it survives.

I don't think it's a bug. If you think about it, if you battle your opponent's Pokémon and it's HP goes to zero, the game still applies additional abilities from the attacks (like sleep, poison, burn, etc.… It also allows you to discard an opponent's supporter with Mega Absol, even if that battle gives you the 3 points to win).
With that in mind, abilities seem to trigger before a Pokémon is knocked out. Which means that, even though Caterpie's HP is brought to zero, the ability to evolve goes through before it's sent to the discard. And since Metapod will still have some hp left (after adjusting to have the damage received from Caterpie), it stays in play, since Caterpie never made it to the discard step of the battle.1 -
Hello @LoboMatero, thanks for your message. This interaction may depend on the timing of the effects and how the game resolves the different abilities involved.
