I look in the dex to find out what their personality is and see if I like it or not. If it passes that test then it has to give an evil 😈 but cool 😎 vibe with his design. How ever, gengar does not have the cool vibe, but it was the first Pokémon I liked so yeah.

Performance wise I have a preference for the early mons that can be statistical underdogs like Azumarill who may have low base stats, but its ability and movepool can make it a force to be reckoned with, which also lends itself to being memorable ingame with its common availability.
