On Hallowed Axe, do I roll a d8 then add 1 plus my strength because the weapon says d8+1 mag?

That would be 15 with Fear. Remember that if it's an action roll utilizing a Trait(ex: Agility), you add the modifier to it.

When we get to combat you first do an attack roll using your Duality Dice(2d12). You add your Strength modifier to the roll because it's a Strength weapon. If on success you roll damage. Damage is based on Proficiency, which for level 1 is one. So you roll a single D8 and then add +1 to the roll result to deal that much magic damage.

I read the first few and enjoyed the concept. I also just like that Fieren’s part bored and lazy, part mischievous, and part “hm what does THIS one do”

Frieren's character is an interesting one. Yet I think Ubel might be my favorite. She learns by getting to know you and then copying your spell(s) through intuition or instinct. Basically in a Daggerheart sense, she's a Sorceress in a Wizard/Witch world that is able to use the Codex domain without having access to it.
In fact a lot of the secondary characters have a lot of depth and purpose. Fern and Stark are probably going to eclipse Frieren's master and the Hero of the South respectively before the series ends.

@UnovanZorua @Evolve8eon @Morpekofreako @Hades0918 @PikaCarter2025 Your first session is in two weeks since GM is busy next weekend. There may be a sixth to join you but they have to make their character first.
Feel free to peruse the chaos that was Group A's session(and yes it was chaos). Those of you who were veterans of the D&D campaign may get a nice laugh out of it(you'll know what I mean when you see it). If anyone has questions, feel free to ask.
