As I understand it, our Game Master will set the stage or explain the backstory. From there, we as a group will make actions(in the form of text), usually with someone in the spotlight or lead from which the result of their Duality Dice rolls will shape the path the group takes. The GM will then throw obstacles our way, degree of difficulty varying or being based on how the Duality Dice rolls have been because if we roll with Fear often enough, then the GM can lob more obstacles or opponents at us when the opportunity arises. Yet if we roll with Hope, then our path will typically be easier because the GM won't have the Fear resources to put towards his spontaneous actions.
There will be combat at various points in the Campaign. When they occur I cannot say because I am not the Game Master. Yet when they do, they generally take place on a 2D square grid where players have character tokens that they move around the grid-like battlefield with the tokens acting as our position relative to everyone else. You then use everything at your disposal to defeat the opposition by making attack rolls using your Duality Dice. On a successful Attack roll, you then roll Damage Dice to deal damage to the opponent(s). Combat can be a learning experience for new players but I must stress that it's not that difficult. The learning experience for me and everyone here is adapting to Daggerheart's fluid mechanics with respect to plot. In Dungeon and Dragons, action was typically turn based. Here in Daggerheart, one player can speak for the group.
Speaking of D&D, our D&D campaigns that you can find on here via a simple search can kind of give you a glimpse as to what is in store for you. There is a bit of chaos with regards to posts and when they appear on our sessions because post approval was the bane of my existence back then. It will likely reveal it's ugly head during Daggerheart sessions and if it does, the GM's Wall(aka profile) is where you can go to post things if you get hit by it.
To answer your question, everything we do will be based on a text format. We just utilize online dice rollers or actual dice(if you have them) to carry out TTRPG actions and spit out the results. The GM takes those results and spits out the outcome from which we make further actions.
