If they actually manage to deliver 300 great new designs, sure.
But with over 1000 existing designs in the bank to reuse, I think this would actually be a sign of potentially wasting time or prioritising the wrong areas.
By all means, add new Pokémon. It's expected with a new generation. But I'd rather have a couple of dozen new Pokémon and see more time spent on gameplay, story and world design, with an emphasis on quality assurance, than another Scarlet and Violet with 300 new Pokémon.

I really doubt there would ever be a game that only added starters and Pikachu variants. Even if it's not as high as 300, it would never be that low either.

300 makes me slightly worry about how good some of them will be. I'd rather have only 50 Pokemon that are all memorable and interesting than 500 I'll forget or flat-out say 'this one's dumb'.
