Froakie it looks weird and it’s line is way overhyped especially the shiny variants which I think is the only Kalos line shiny that don’t look that good cause chespin looks amazing in the maroon and fennekin in the silver
froakie and frogadier shiny is a bland off color and I don’t think greninja looks good as a black shiny (which in my opinion are also a bit overrated)

Generally I think starters' base forms are broadly appealing. I wouldn't say any of them are outright stinkers, though Treecko, Chespin, Popplio, Grookie and Sobble are probably in the lower tiers for me.
It's when evolve that a lot of starters go off the rails. Middle forms particularly can be awkward or underwhelming, but even final evolutions can be outright unappealing or ugly.
Gen 8 is perhaps the worst of this (as it is in many other ways). I like Scorbunny, but I hate all the starter evolutions.
As an aside on Tepig, it's funny that it has become the black sheep. When the starters were first revealed, the general consensus was that Oshawott was the odd one out. There were memes and comics about no one picking it, it being left at the lab, people being made fun of for having an Oshawott.
Ironically these days it might actually be the most popular gen 5 starter line, since Snivy starts strong but loses its arms in the evolution, coupled with not being that great competitively.

I’m just not a fan of black shinies because a Pokemon gets praised if it has a black shiny but imo it’s hard to pull off a black shiny and I think charizard, rayquaza, koraidon and greninja fail to do so yet get praised for their shinies imo good black shinies are Hawlucha, Minior, and Pallosand, and oricorio baile
