I silently lie in bed, Espurr sleeping peacefully on my chest. I look over at my clock for what feels like the hundredth time tonight. It's currently 1:03 in the morning and I've been debating if I really want to leave this horrid kingdom or not for the last two hours. Reasons holding me back is because it would kill me to ditch my parents, leaving them devastated as they wonder what happened to me. Plus, it would leave Chris alone, forcing him to handle all the work by himself.

However, I can't continue to live like this! Waking up at five every morning to the cry of a Blaziken, immediately beginning the same process I do every day. Milking Miltanks, collecting Torchic eggs, plowing the fields, collecting harvest, planting new crops, and more. It's antagonizing torture! I yearn for something else in my life. To be able to experiment with other jobs and find what I love! I already know one think I wish to do but can't because of Hades' laws…

I contemplate for another fifteen minutes before giving in with a long, exhausted sigh. "Let's go," I mutter to myself as I gently push Espurr off me. She lifts her head up and tiredly watches as I quietly hurry around my room, collecting things I'll need for the journey in a small bag. Some clothes, a map, and Espurr's PokeBall along with my other five Pokemon. After double checking that I have the essential, I set the bag down next to Espurr, who is wide awake now, and crawl under my bed, retrieving my violin.

My cat stares at the instrument with shock, meowing with question. "I know, you're not used to me taking it out," I say as I gently slide the violin into my backpack. "However, that's exactly why we're leaving this place. So I can use it whenever I please without worry of being arrested."

I shoulder the pack. pick up my cat, and head for the front door. I make a quick stop in the kitchen to grab some food, only taking the amount I would have received as my portion. After that, I grab the keys as I head out, planning on taking the old truck for easy travels. As I near the green vehicle, though, I see a figure standing in front of it. To my surprise, it's Chris.

He's leaning against the hood of the truck, holding his black windbreaker tightly over his purple T-shirt as the cold night breeze blows by. He looks ready to go on a trip of his own with his black sweatpants and running shoes. As I approach, he pushes off the hood to walk up to me.

"I knew you'd be here eventually," he whispers aggressively as soon as he's in my hearing range.

"What do you mean," I demand, whispering as well.

"I could see it in your face when you asked me about change today," Chris explains. "It was obvious that you were wanting out of here."

"Look, you're not going to be able to talk me out of it, so…" I go to walk past him, but he quickly and tightly grabs me by the forearm, forcing me to a stop.

"I'm not here to stop you," he tells me. I look at him with surprise.

"Wait, what," I ask in disbelief.

"You heard me right," he says, letting go of me and taking a few steps back. "In fact, I'm coming with you."

"No, you can't-" I begin to argue, but I meet his eyes and find nothing but stubborn determination. Just like me, he's not gonna be talked out of this. "Fine," I tell him as I sigh with defeat. "Get in the truck so we can get going."

"Cal, we can't take the truck," Chris states.

"Why not," I question. "I mean, yeah it takes a second to get going but it's still usable."

"It doesn't have to do with how well it works. If we take it then your parents will be left without a vehicle, and without us they will need to make the deliveries themselves," the brunette says, unfortunately correct.

"So we're walking," I grumble, feeling more disappointment when Chris nods. I dramatically groan as we walk past the truck, making a show of staring longingly at it. Before we get too far I place the keys in the trunk knowing it's safe to leave them there. This kingdom has many flaws, but thievery isn't one of them. Hades did a real good job of keeping that away.

As me and my traveling companion approach the "You are now leaving Rireland" sign, I look back one last time at the town I've spent my whole life in. "Good bye," I whisper under my breath before continuing down the path, passing the sign and officially leaving the place I grew up at in hopes of a better future.

I'm tired right now so I'm not sure how great this is

I feel like it could be better but I might think it's great in the morning

We'll see
