I think there needs to be a change with the ranking and reporting system

as of late I noticed something with the point system where accounts that haven’t been active for over a year have been getting loads of points in the thousands and there have been mass unnessacary flagging on posts that are months old

To me this shows there is a flaw in the ranking system and something needs to be changed

For starters instead of making it based on reactions where one person can make a few accounts and mass agree someone I think it needs to be based on interaction this does not mean the number of post one does but by how often they interact and mention others like saying @clasingla when talking to me this will actually have people at the top who are active and the most welcoming in the community instead of those who have their points upvoted by bot accounts of some kind

The system should also encourage using the features of the forums

this should encourage others to check out and learn how to use the forums features and be able to feel like they have enough knowledge to know how to navigate and to interact with the forums

Now to address the next problem me and a few other forums members are getting wrongfully flagged on our activity pages and on posts that we did months ago

First and foremost this is an abuse of a safety system meant to protect the forums from spam bots and bad actors and therefore should have no relationship to points

Secondly there is a correlation between when these inactive users get a burst of points and when us actually active users get wrongfully flagged this shows there is a motive to control what the leaderboard looks like on their end if we have reports not be worth any points it would most likely discourage this mass flagger from doing their mass flaggings

We should also focus the reporting system from actually sending reports it wouldn’t surprise me if the mods are just as annoyed with the amount of unnecessary flags coming in if for each flag you need to write a minimum of idk like 20 words to be able to report something this would make it so they can’t just flag something for no reason and they actually need to give a reason why that post needed to be reported
