Neighborhood of Demons: Week 1

You enter your home after a long day of weekend jobs. You tiredly trudge your way into your kitchen and open your fridge, groaning when you see almost nothing. After closing the fridge door, you jump with surprise from a Delphox in a maroon hooded cloak and bright orange masquerade mask suddenly standing there.

"Forgot to go grocery shopping again, huh," they ask.

"Who are," you demand. "How'd you get in here?"

"That second question doesn't matter," the Delphox answers before standing up straighter and putting on a dazzling smile. "I am Phoxy the Majestic! Protector of the mortal realm." Their voice seems to boom throughout the house. The two of you stand there quietly for a moment, and when you don't look all that impressed Phoxy's smile falters. "Why are you not impressed?"

"Because this is probably just some illusion I'm seeing because of my exhaustion," you tell the Delphox, walking past them to grab a can of beans out your cabinet. "'Protector of the mortal realm.' If you are real you're real messed up in the head!"

"Ah, I forgot most mortals don't believe in the supernatural," Phoxy says, leaning against your kitchen counter. "Let me explain. You know all those 'myths' you heard about growing up? Fairies, giants, amd demons among many stories."

"Of course I know them," I reply with a tired sigh. I dump the beans into a bowl and throw them into a microwave. "Everyone does. Just dumb bedtime stories to get kids to sleep."

"No! They're so much more than that," Phoxy exclaims, slamming their hands onto the counters. "They are all real! And demons are currently gaining power with the lunar eclipse coming at the end of this month!"

"Let's say demons are real," you state, taking your beans out the microwave and move towards your silverware. "Why would that effect me?"

"Because the demons will attack everything they can, including your neighborhood," Phoxy answers. "And there's already a demon here!"

You raise an eyebrow, hand hovering above a spoon. This may all sound like fantasty, but if what Phoxy says is true then you need to act. You put a lot of effort into building and maintaining the place. You're not going to take any chances. "Who is it?"

"I don't know exactly who," the Delphox tells you. "But I do know how to root them out!"

"And how's that," you question.

"I knew you'd come around," Phoxy says with a smile. "Demons are incredibly evil, but they are incredibly honest. They literally cannot tell a lie!"

"Everyone knows that," you say, remembering all those stories your parents used to tell you.

"Then you already know what to do," the Delphox states confidently. When you're still confused, they sigh. "Talk to all your residents. Ask them questions. If anyone lies you know it's not them. Simple."

"Right..." you mutter. "What am I supposed to ask? 'Hey! Are you a demon?'"

"That's perfect," Phoxy exclaims, completely oblivious to your sarcasm. "Seems like you're already a natural! Go out there and get to interrogating! And if you need any help, come to me! I'll always be here!"

You can talk to them five days a week but only once a day (so five times)

The day ends after you've talked to everyone
