If we're still using infatuation I am standing firm on it can effect all genders

Well infatuation is balanced by only effecting opposite gender if not it would probably see more use case in competitive cause it would be broken since it’s already a strong status condition immobilizing your opponent and other status condition usually have things that keep them in check like how fire types can’t get burned electric types can’t get paralyzed ice can’t get frozen poison can’t get poison it relies on the prospecting of balancing which is very important in the game if infatuation worked on any pokemon you could have a skitty just completely desimate any pokemon game balancing is an important part of the game so maybe have a new status condition that kind of acts like a whirlpool/paralysis where the opponent can’t switch out and has a certain chance* of not moving for set amount of turns we can call the status condition entranced also this won’t effect bug types just to give them a little buff

    Thank you…
Also why Bug types? Bugs are entranced by stuff all the time lol. Maybe not Psychic types because of their mind being strong… or like not Normal types just because.

just cause bug is one of the weakest types and ice and poison already get immunity to a certain status condition

It’s more so just to give bug type a boost but I guess psychic type would make more sense

I don't know. There are only so many balanced type triangles. Paldea also had fighting/ghost/dark, so I think we can get away with it.

Delphox. Just basing it on a witch felt too simple, so I revisited one of my first ideas and let it partially influence the design and lore, making it also inspired by the Feuermänner, which are German fire ghosts. Also known as Feuerputzen, Züsler, or Feurige Männer. They're a lot less known than witches, so I'll explain everything I gathered about them. They're men who died sinners (sometimes, their sin specifically has to be moving boundary stones and they're only redeemed when given permission to put it back where it came from, but other stories say they can be many other kinds of sinners as well) and are stuck on earth trying to repent. They're most often described as men made of fire or skeletons on fire, but there's quite a few other descriptions as well. They guide people by illuminating their paths at night for rewards like small amounts of money and prayers, but if the person doesn't fulfill their promise or annoys a Feuermann (such as by pranking), he might lead the person astray or burn their house down. Sometimes they appear in stories as just regular scary and intimidating fiery ghost men. Shaking a Feuermann's hand is dangerous, because they're always on fire, and will end in the person shaking their hand not continuing to live. It's fine if you use an object to shake their hand, but it will have a black mark on it or be very, very hot due to the fire. Witches are still part of the inspiration.

    So, to Delphox's regional form.

    Untitled Image

Pokédex entry 1: It can summon departed spirits using the ghostly flames it produces, letting it hear of millenias from the past and learn the knowledge of those who've passed.

Pokédex entry 2: Stories are told of it guiding people through darkness or helping them using flames in exchange for items, and turning those who agitate it into one of the balls of flames it controls.

It turning people into things is inspired by witches turning people into animals in various fairy tales.

    Huh

I thought infatuation was like paralysis where it only occasionally kicks in

It is not always- but it has a higher chance. Plus, you could both poison and infatuate a pokemon, and can't poison and paralyze

I'm just thinking, normal Delphox can already see the future. So what if this version saw the PAST via talking to the deceased. (not trying to force anything or criticize this this is already better than anything I could ever come up with). Just a thought…

I was basing it on witches in mythology and folklore telling the future through necromancy, but this is actually a pretty cool idea. I'll change it.
