Please don't open if you're sort of sensitive to dark themes. I don't show anything terrible in here but the story is meant for those 13+.
The main character is called Jo, and he's a bit off. He's impressive, sure, but not many people read books on Shadow magic just for fun. When he sees his reflection at dawn or dusk, instead there's a bloodred wolf that copies his movements. Wolves killed his birth parents. He's k*lled fighting for Ordon, but something turns- perhaps it would be better to say corrupts- him into the red-furred wolf, and Midna offers to set him free in exchange for being bound to her service until she collects all of the item she needs. Jo promptly discovers that his power as a wolf is immense. He rips monsters that k*lled small armies to shreds. The problem is… he likes it. He likes the rush of… okay yeah approval would never let me say that. Because the mark on his left paw- called the Shadow Eye- corrupts him whenever he dips into its power. And its power is infinite. But if he dips even a little too far into that power he'll become one of the monsters he's k*lling, only worse… one that doesn't care which side it hurts, Light or Shadow. Jo really isn't a hero. He's a demon that only takes the side of himself, and his home. Midna stays the deuteragonist the entire story and is my remade version of her, including her age being younger (14 almost 15), her attitude being more cruel ("I don't give a ____ about your world."), and her hatred of Zant running much deeper in her. She has the full intent to use Jo as her tool at first, and while its not like she doesn't care if he were to d*e, she also just wants him to gather the Shadow Crystal shards so she can beat Zant and go home. Except her home was in terrible condition even without Zant. She starts to become more attached to Jo as they go, but keeps reminding herself that goodbye is coming- "Don't get attached to people if you know you're just going to have to forget them later". Zant is the main antagonist, but he worships the Shadow King like a god. Only from the Shadow King does he have his incredible magical capabilities, and he wants something that seems rather simple. Control over Twilight, Light, and especially Midna.
Um… it'd take a while to explain and it might be too dark for approval, but…
So, uh… if you ever want to read it, check out AO3 sometime in the summer. I think I'll start posting it then. Its not done, I'm currently on one of the first sagas (chapters) of the second half, the Mirror Arc2 -
