Is there a map of competitive regions for pokemon champions somewhere?

Hi, I'm trying to start up pokemon champions for the first time. I got stuck on the "choose your region" question, because I could theoretically be in one or the other. When I tried to look up a map, or information about where I live for competitive pokemon I came up short. The regions don't exactly match the typical south, mid-west, north east, west, etc stuff that I am used to for the USA. It's all "USA - North" or "USA - East" and I don't know these regions geologically.

Does anyone know if I can find a map or a spreadsheet of which state is where for competitive play? I don't want to accidentally choose the wrong region.

I'm pretty sure the Midwest is North so that's what I chose. If you look up the census regions for the US, west is really clear, Midwest looks like it fits North and South pretty well between North Central and South Central. Then all of the Northeast and South Atlantic regions make sense for East all being on the eastern coast.

I can't say that I'm correct for sure unfortunately so it would be nice if they clarified these instead of these asinine names.

I wouldn't worry about it too much right now, region can be changed and will matter most if any of the online tournaments are region specific or give championship points, which is not happening right now.
