Wanting to play again after sun and moon

Hi everyone, I’m a returning player trying to get back into PTCGP after a long break. I stopped playing around the Sun & Moon era and still own a lot of older cards, but I know most of them aren’t relevant anymore.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to update my collection and stay competitive with the current meta. At the moment I’m wondering:

  1. Should I just open the newest sets to catch up on important cards?
  2. Are there any new staple Supporters or meta-defining cards (similar to how Cyrus or Sabrina were back in the day) that I should look out for?
  3. How has the game/meta changed since Sun & Moon, and what should I focus on first?

Would appreciate recommendations on sets or strategies that help a returning player catch up. Thanks!

You just missed the best opportunity for new/returning players, the Deluxe ex pack ended for now… so it's significantly harder to catch up.

Also the current meta it's still shaping, but the new mega Gardevoir deck looks very powerful, I haven't test it decently tho, because I'm missing a couple of cards. I personally really like the mega Blaziken, Suicune and Magneton/Oricorio decks.

About the supporters, Cyrus and Sabrina are still top and now Copycat, May and Lisia are also essential for many decks.

The best pack to open now it's indeed the newest, you know "powercrept"... also because generally the latest cards will get you better trading deals.
