Chapter 4: The Start of Sofia's Journey

The sun is now high in the sky as me and Zane traverse through a forest. We haven't really talked since leaving home, only speaking when needing something. I wouldn't say the silence is awkward, though. We are just adjusting to it being only us again. Out of nowhere, our quiet is broken by Zane's stomach growing loudly.

"Hey, Sof, can we take a food break," he asks. "We've been walking for hours and I'm starving."

My tummy rumbles in agreement with him. "Yeah, we'll take a stop here," I tell him, taking a seat on a nearby rock. Zane sits down on a stump next to me.

I take my backpack off and pull out two sandwiches Ma packed for us. I hand one to Zane before unwrapping mine. Me and my partner stuff some into our mouth, and for once I'm happy I'm having a sandwich. It reminds me a bit of home.

"The mayo is still perfect," Zane exclaims with his mouth full. I smile softly and nod.

"Yeah," I agree once I've swallowed. "It's perfect."

We continue to eat in silence (yes, more of that), the only sound being us chewing our food. "So..." Zane begins randomly.

"What's up," I ask, encouraging him to continue.

"What exactly do we need to do," he questions. "Stop the Society Fixers. That's all you've told me. But where exactly are they and how do we stop them?"

I think for a second. "I haven't told you that because I don't know," I answer. "I told you everything the large donkey told me."

"I'M A QILIN," Arceus exclaims in my head, making me flinch.

"You good," Zane asks, looking at me with concern. I nod.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I tell him. "Some beings just haven't heard of inside voices."

Zane immediately understands that the diety is talking to me and nods. "Are you going to ask it for more details?"

"As long as it's here I might as well," I respond.

"That's actually why I'm here," the entity tells me. "This organization is in every region, and to beat them you need to battle and defeat their bosses, who will be using the captured Legendaries and sometimes Mythicals. Your first stop needs to be Hoen."

"Why can't I start in Sinnoh," I inquire. "I'm already here."

"Because in Hoen they are already close to getting the Legendary trio there," the god answers.

"But if I stop them here before they get close to catching the ones here, then I can stop them from even attacking the Sinnoh Legends," I explain to it with a proud smirk. "I can stop disaster before it even happens!"

"And by wasting your time here then the group will seize control of the Ground, Sea, and Air and destroy the world," Aceus counters. "And it will be all your fault because you wouldn't just go to Hoen first."

I groan. "Fine! You win," I shout. "We'll go to Hoen first! Any idea where I'd find them?"

"Just go to where the Legendaries are," it responds, answering nothing.

"And where would that be," I question. Arceus chuckles.

"You have to figure that out for yourself," it tells me. "I can't tell you everything. It would take away from the fun of the journey!"

"A journey I don't want to be on," I exclaim. "This isn't fun! Just tell me." Silence. "Hello?" More quiet. "ANSWER ME, DUMB HORSE!!!"

Dead silence. I sigh. "Alright, so it's ignoring me now," I inform Zane. "All I know is we're going to Hoen."

Very short chapter, I know
