Best way to spend my {Star} resource on TCG LIVE?

Hello! I am a new player to the paper TCG and LIVE. I've collected when I was a kid when PokeMania hit in the late 90's and I've been playing Pocket pretty much since it game out.

I've been leveling up and stacking my battle pass rewards in LIVE. I'm not sure the best way to spend my {Star} resource. Its pretty much just for opening packs right?

Through the battle pass I've been able to open and collect a lot of Phantasmal Flames. I uploaded a decent amount of scan codes already from Prismatic and 151. I'm mostly just trying to collect cards to make competitive decks rather than complete sets or hunt for illustrations.

I am playing a Mega Gengar + Marnies Grimmsnarl deck. I also have the Rockets Mewtwo battle deck.

I guess just figure out another deck I want to play and find the packs those cards are in? Maybe just keep stacking {Star} points until April and go ham trying to get new cards when the meta shifts?

Thanks in advance from a newb.

I'm not sure what you mean by {Star} points, but to simplify allow me to explain the game currencies:

    • Trade Credits: you can exchange for individual cards in both the Card Dex and Deck Editor.
    • Trainer Points: you can exchange for booster packs, bundles, deck items and battle pass levels.

The best way to spend it, depends on what your goals are. In my personal opinion as a long time player of physical and digital TCG, it's better to spend Trade Credits in cards that allow you to complete decks that you want to play. Also, if you like the collecting part of the game you could use it to finnish each set.

Ah and sometimes when I take long pauses from the game I use the Trainer Points to finish the remaining battle pass tiers.

I was more specifically asking about the Trainer Points.

I don't really care about the deck items, and I'd rather just trying to unlock the battle pass tiers by playing. So that leaves packs and bundles. So I guess I'm curious on which packs would be best to go for as someone who is strictly just trying to build more meta relevant decks, especially with the knowledge of the format cycling soon.

I have 7,200 trainer points at the moment and im level 12 and tier 58 on battle pass.

If you're strictly just trying to build more meta relevant decks, the best to do is to use your Trainer Points to get more Trade Credits.

Yes, what I mean by this is that opening packs or bundles to try to get specific cards for decks it's very inefficient, that will take ages to build decks.

The best way is to get more Trade Credits, and exchange them for the cards needed directly (this is called "credit farminig:). So for that you can go to the ingame store and use your Trainer Points to get bundles that have more chances to give you high value duplicated cards (that’s how you "exchange" Trainer Points into Trade Credits). Currently for a new player the best bundle to farm Credits is still Celebrations and 2nd best is Shadow Rider VMAX.

The goal is to use your Trainer Points to get one of those two bundles until you have all 4 copies of each card of that bundle. Eventually when you start getting only duplicated cards the bundle will be "coverted" to about 4000+ Credits, that then you can use to craft directly the cards you need for your decks.

And that’s basically how you farm Credits to get your decks completed faster.
