I was sitting at the Treasure Eatery, eating the secret item. I sighed, just staring into the plate. Usually, this meal always made me feel better, but after that day, I wasn't sure anything would make me better.

"What's the matter, buddy," the cook asked from behind the counter. "This meal is normally all you need to get past a rough day at work."

I sighed, pushing the plate away. "Today was worse than usual," I told her, my usually emotionless voice showing frustration. Natalie (that's what I'm naming her) put her spatula down to listen. "First, Geeta had me repair the roads in Alfornada. Then, she made me rush to the Elite Four because we had a challenger. After that, Geeta made me make a special appearance at the school to explain the difference in type, since I user two different ones. I just stood there for an hour and a half while the teacher spoke, occasionally answering a question. I finally got to sit down for my lunch break, but then Geeta called. She wanted me to host an auction in Porto Marinada. I stood there for three hours without a break, just holding random junk. That's finally done and then she made me help her rearrange her living room. That took up the rest of the day due to her indecisiveness." I took a deep breath with a heavy exhale. "Most of that isn't even my job, but she makes me do it because she has the power to. And she doesn't pay me extra for it either. And she can do that since she's "la Primara," our number one champion and my boss."

Natalie nodded along. "Well maybe you should become champion," she told me with a smile. "Be your own boss and not have to do all that extra."

I chuckled dryly at that. "Sure," I muttered. I sit quietly for a bit, really thinking about that. If I were champion, I'd get a steady paycheck. A high check, too. I wouldn't have to do all these unpaid side jobs because, as Natalie said, I'll be my own boss. I wouldn't be forced to use a team I'm told to and hold back every battle. I'd be free and rich.

I look at her. "Natalie," I asked, my tone hopeful. "Do you really believe I could become champion?"

She smiled with confidence at me. "I have zero doubt you could."

I smiled softly, something I hadn't done in a long time. I grab my plate, scooping up a huge bite. "Get seconds ready," I stated. "I suddenly have an appetite!"

Yes, I like this much better
