The only required thing from you is the Trial battle of a type of your choice (as long as it isn't Grass, Poison, or Psychic)

Ok thanks!

a trial battle is against a totem pokemon correct?
(I'm sorry if I seem clueless I haven't watched the sun and moon series in a while.)
I know that after the battle you earn a Z crystal from the type you battle

I never mention a Totem Pokémon, so if you include one that's up to you
All I said was a battle with the Captain's chosen rules
You can make it a double battle, one-v-one, or something else
Remember, though, unless Izzy catches Eevee before the Trial, she only has two Pokémon (Rowlet and Goomy)

Trials in the games are doing a quest (like fighting Pokémon, doing puzzles, and other things) in order to summon/reach the Totem Pokémon (the Captain can't summon the Totem on demand— you have to complete whatever the quest the Totem Pokémon needs in order to fight it) and get the Z Crystal. You need to complete all trials on an island before you are allowed to face the Kahuna (who, after you win, gives you a Z Crystal matching the type they use) and go on to the next island. Most trials involve very simple puzzles with more than one round and Pokémon battles against wild Pokémon between each round before you can meet and battle the Totem Pokémon, but some, like the Dragon type Z Crystal's trial (which is a strange one as it has no captain) are just battles. Kahunas can only be fought after completing all trials on the island, and after defeating all four Kahunas, you go to the league to try to become Champion, or if that doesn't exist yet, fight all four Kahunas without them holding back in a row.

Also, I forgot to mention that this is based on the games and not the anime. I've forgotten how they work there.

They weren't really that necessary
Just education for Ash
I'm not going to have @PokeMom244 do that if they don't want to
The only required thing is the battle
