You might have been lucky and seen a better side of the internet, but I always saw people hating on Delphox and loving Braixen more by a lot, often with dumb reasons (I haven't properly interacted with the fandom outside of here in a while, but from the glimpses I've seen it looks like people thankfully have a better opinion of Delphox now. Or maybe I just used to be really unlucky when I was younger, which is extremely likely). Even the anime is guilty of this, only giving Serena a Delphox after she went away, never letting her even have one while she was still a main character, and even Pokkén Tournament adding Braixen instead of Delphox for some reason. I saw few Delphox fans and many haters back when I watched Pokémon things more often. Though, again, I was probably just very unlucky, considering how little people talk about it in general and Braixen being more relevant in the past (back in my day, there wasn't a Mega Delphox, and there was the favouritism I mentioned with the anime and Pokkén, while all Delphox had was being a final evolution of a Kalos starter).

Also, people hated XY because it wasn't old enough to be a good game yet back when I watched more Pokémon things (it is now old enough for it to not be the worst Pokémon game ever whose only redeeming factor is the anime (because the anime was so serious and anime-like, also Alola sucks because it's fun and not as serious and doesn't look like it's made for teens) in most people's opinion).

Personally, I don't care for the anime that much (I actually dislike the XY anime a little, especially because of the Delphox ignoring and Ash-Greninja's existence and how Serena's writing creeps me out). I've always loved the XY games, though. I was talking about how the fandom hates things when they're new and only likes them when they become old (except for the XY anime).
