(Oh, this still didn't get posted even though I responded immediately? Okay, I'll censor it and try posting again.)

@TechHog We couldn't know that for sure, but even assuming that's true, thank goodness [the company that makes these games] were prepared to go above and beyond back then. It would be nice if they could recapture some of that spirit.

@Hey_PIKMIN This line of thinking has a way of passing the buck until no one is responsible for the current issues with the games. Especially in online discussions.

"We can't blame the developers; they are subject to the whims of the publishers and their customers. They are hard working and passionate people, doing the best they can. You're so entitled. Stop attacking them."

"We can't blame Nintendo; it's their job to make money and the customers demand it. They have been involved in some of the greatest game franchises of all time. You're probably an Xbox or Sony fanboy."

"We can't blame the customers; they don't make the product."

So it's no one's fault. I guess declining game quality is just an inherent property of the universe, inversely proportional to money and success.

There is a reason I keep bringing up the fact that Pokémon is the world's largest media franchise. Not game franchise. Media franchise. They are bigger than Disney.

If they need more staff, they can hire any talent they want. If they need more time to develop the games, unlike smaller franchises, they can afford to take the time. Pokémon is not about to go bankrupt because it won't have a new game this year.

The overwhelming majority of fans seem happy that the pace of releases are finally slowing down. Even the most casual, detached and uninformed Pokémon fan has recognised that there is something wrong. I do hope this is not just a fluke related to the new Nintendo console's delay and a serious attempt to address some of the issues.

So I do not accept that it is unreasonable to expect previously standard features from this series in its newer games.

it is my humble opinion we need a clean dex. (Okay something I said got flagged so I will be more elaborate without explaining too much) In fact I'm ia little paranoid so we should have a full list in the new game

@Eremas What do you mean by "a clean dex"? A Pokédex of entirely new Pokémon á la Black and White? A minimalist Pokédex with only a few Pokémon? 150? Less?

What does "clean" mean in this context?

"Eat the rich"? What? Who are "the rich" in this scenario?

Hiring people isn't that easy you know, at the end of the day it's just the pressure being put on them, the same way disney and star wars have to have big releases every year, do you realize how much it would take to have 1000 pokemon in 1 game every year, all I'd like is around 600 per game and remakes to contain an extra pokedex or two. I don't in any way shape or form think that modern games are ok I just think that you really need to stop complaining everywhere at the end of the day if they want to make bad games then they can

    @Hey_PIKMIN

if they want to make bad games then they can

I almost missed that line at the end there. Hilarious. I don't think they want to put out bad games. I think they would argue that they are making good games. But even so, if they put out bad games, the customers are in no way obligated to buy them.

The allusions to Disney and their current issues with quality are apt, but I'd say the Marvel stuff is a better example. There hasn't been a Star Wars movie in years. I think the sequel trilogy was so bad they are afraid to make another.

Again, they don't have to put out a new Pokémon game every year. At this point people are begging them NOT to do that.

And they don't have to reinvent 1000+ Pokémon every game. I think the majority of fans would be fine with them importing models, animations and assets from the previous game, particularly for those not actually catchable in game.
