Why are there no Generation IX Pokémon featured in Detective Pikachu Returns?

Hey, what’s up, guys? I knew that there are only Generations I-VIII featured in Detective Pikachu Returns, but absolutely not any of the Generation IX Pokémon past this point, making it one of the Pokémon games to not feature any Pokémon from the concurrent generation during the Scarlet and Violet Era. Now I wonder why you think that there are no Generation IX Pokémon featured in this game.

Could be a delay that we do not know about even though for people outside of Japan it came out in 2018 being a 5 year difference in Japan it came out in 2016 which was 7 year difference meaning that detective pikachu returns might have been delayed to be announced and released and could have possibly supposed to be a gen 8 game

It probably took a while to make the game, so during the time they finished making the story and choosing the Pokémon in the game, it was probably gen 8.

They likely did it because of the movie which would begin filming much earlier to release likely sometime soon, they wouldn’t want anyone accidentally spoiling Gen 9.
