Inability to link a Pokémon Go account started using Google/Facebook to current PTC account?

I find it difficult to link my PTC account with my Go account. I started the game back in 2016 using Google as my log in. Completely unaware that today, Play Pokémon require a PTC account. My question is I know PGO has various ways to log in, is Google & Facebook log in methods during a Play Pokémon event?
*Note: I maybe repeating other posts but just wanting to clarify.
