You must be joking. Nintendo is a $10Trillion company and Pokémon is worth nearly $100Billion and both brought in over $11Billion in revenue last year alone. The problem is definitely about money, but where in the world you came up with the idea they don't have enough is beyond me. Even if they don't have the talent, they can certainly afford to buy the talent. It's not that they "can't" bring the game over. The problem is that the game doesn't make any money. Nintendo has a long-standing reputation and history of having one singular focus at the expense of pretty much everything else.

It might be more accurate to say that they might not be willing to invest the money to make it happen, rather than there aren't the resources available.
I think there are also concerns on the Japanese side with Japanese fans gaining easier access to the client through the Switch.
And a desire to promote the new app instead.

First of all, lol @ that Nintendo figure. Please go look at whatever source you read that from. 🤣
Second, even if you had the correct figure, it's irrelevant. Nintendo isn't involved in this game, nor is The Pokémon Company proper. This is made by The Pokémon Company International, which is just a subsidiary that gets to keep only a tiny fraction of Pokémon revenue beyond what they need to operate. If The Pokémon Company or Nintendo decided to invest in Live, then yes, it would be possible. That's never going to happen though. They'll either continue to ignore it, or make a new app that forces everyone to start from scratch with micro transactions.
