POKEMON TCG ARTIST APPRECIATION THREAD GO GO GO

EXACTLY what it says on the tin, post ur favourite card art, card artists, show some love, who knows, maybe you'll find your new favourite Pokemon TCG Artist here !!

here's a few of mine:

-Yuka Morii - known for those adorable cards of the little clay models!

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it is of mimikyu,- a ghostly pokemon that covers itself in a crudely decorated sheet to look like pikachu with two eyes on its "stomach"- depicted as a clay figure. it is sat on a brick wall, with a small herb bush behind it. despite its freaky visage, it looks very polite.

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it features sizzlipede, a pokemon that looks like a flat, wavy centipede with a red body, and yellow rings down its segmented tummy- and it is depicted as a clay figure. it is stood on a wet rock, perusing its surroundings. and just in the foreground is an out of focus fern. an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it features sinistea, a pokemon shaped like a tea pot with purple ghostly liquid spilling out of it- depicted in a charming clay figure. it is surrounded by various real cups of tea, some with black tea, some with milk tea, some on saucers, some on the table bare, and the other cups are white with gold trim.

-Tomokazu Komiya - whose whimsy and wonder in his art with layered materials make for striking pieces!

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it is of drowzee, a pokemon that is yellow and brown and looks like a bipedal tapir, and it is in a scene at a fun fair. it seems to be sun down, judging by the deep reds and purples and yellows used throughout, and drowzee is lying on a bench, longingly looking out at the rest of the crowd, highlighted by a single lit lamp post. theres lots of scribbled colour details, giving the art a busy, almost messy vibe. an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it is an illustration of gulpin- a pokemon that has a round green body, looks somewhat like a slug, and has a great big yellow leaf coming out of its head- and a child leant at a kitchen table, both balancing forks above pursed lips. the art style is whimsical and colourful, drawn in coloured pencil and gouache.

-Hungryclicker (hncl) - I followed them from their art for fighting games and was delighted to see that they've recently done art for the pokemon tcg!

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it features houndoom, a pokemon that resembles a greyhound with black and red markings, and large horns coming out its head with bone like protrusions down its back. it is stanced up, looking one eye at the viewer, with flashes of flame and dust from impact sweeping up past it.

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it features Ghetsis, the leader of team plasma, who has long wavy green hair, and wears an intricate robe with a large collar baring team plasma's logo, and a red eye piece that covers his right eye. he is sat at a desk, picking up a chess piece that has been laid on a map. other features of the table includes a compass, a rolled up piece of paper, a pot of ink, and a candle. an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it features lucario, a pokemon that looks to be a bipedal canine with blue fur, a black cross across its face, pointed ear, a ruffle of fur around its neck, and a spike coming out of its chest- it is a well rendered, painted piece of art where lucario is looking directly at the viewer with powerful embers of flames flicking up in the foreground.

-Asako Ito - crochet amigurumi pokemon cards!! what isn't there to love!

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it features pyukumuku, a black and pink sea urchin pokemon, as depicted as a small crochet figure. it is on a beach landscape made of cut out paper, and in the background you can just see a few other pyukumuku chilling there. an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it is of the pokemon altaria, a whimsical dragon pokemon that looks like a fluffy cloud like bird, and it is depicted as a crochet figure, with its fluffy feathers made out of cotton wool. it is in a bedroom, lovingly made out of pieces of fabric and wood and a little crochet rug, and there is a warm, homely feel to the set.

an image of a card for the pokemon trading card game- it is of espuur, a purple psychic cat with large eyes and a vacant stare, depicted as a small crochet figure. it is standing in a forest scene made out of cut out pieces of card. not a single thought is going on in its head.

Yuka Morii is one of my favorites too, but I also really like the work of Kouki Saitou and Akira Komayama. I also think it fun to observe the "evolution" of Kagemaru Himeno's style over the years. 🙂

For me personally, any card that Yuka Morii made is amazing! I would really like to try and get in touch with her to see ho she does it. Wouldn't you all agree?

I've always liked Kagemaru Himeno since she did an early manga about some of her cards. I wish it could have been translated! It's called How I Became A Pokemon Card.
