I suppose if you've never felt the pain of losing a loved one, then you can't relate to Mallow. Even the episode with Litten and Stoutland can get to you. As for your XYZ reference, I teared up a bit for that one too.

The Japanese Audio Pokemon XY would have a much better tone in drama and action than the english dub.

Hence my point regarding the Japanese dub. They cut so much when they dub it into English that it's like you're watching an entirely different series. Furthermore, you wouldn't know how Ash caught 30 Tauros if you didn't watch the Japanese Dub in the first place since they never aired the Safari Zone Episode in which he used all 30 Safari Balls to catch a herd of 30 Tauros.
