Private Matches DESPERATELY Need Rule Changes - very unwelcoming to new users
I am not asking for completely custom matches by any sense, but the biggest changes needed for private matches with friends:
Allow expanded format (either select expanded or make that the default instead of standard)
There are still so many decks that a person could go into the store and buy, but when they get home to play them they are showing as invalid even in a private match with friends. What if someone wants to buy these simple decks and learn online with their kid? I have multiple friends and family members who are casual players and do not want to follow the constant changes to standard and have no interest in modding decks.
Remove the timer
A timer is great for online matches, but not a match with a friend. Often when playing with a friend I am video chatting or talking with them and would like to be able to play at our own speed. Also again for newer players, they dont have every card and trainer text memorized. Often times by the time they read the card the timer is already putting pressure on them.
This is specific to private matches you choose to play with a friend. There is no XP and no ranking gained from these matches, why do they need to follow the strict standard rules? Final point: both of these were how TCGO was by default.

2 very good requests. These should not be too difficult to implement & they would be appreciated by the community.

I think both of your suggestions are great quick temporary quality-of-life improvements. In the future, it would be great to have more customization options such as setting the time limit, format, card bans, which could even possibly lead to setting up user ran "tournaments" in game.

Really it's pretty embarrassing that something as simple as not including a timer for friend matches is an issue. Since there is no potential abuse for and could be taken care of with a hotfix as slapdash as simply changing the value defining the timer length to something silly high and forgetting about it.
I get that it's pretty much as low priority a fix as you can think of and they're not gonna worry about that with any hurry. Still, that someone making decisions is so unfamiliar with playing the game being made they didn't think of it or dismissed it as not worth the time is
