Radiant Jirachi Ability

Does Jirachis ability only work once? I brought it back from the discard pile and it didnt work the next time it was knocked out, by a Vstar attack, but Still, an attack

It should work each time, unless the ability is shut off by something like Path to the Peak

I tried to delete this post, but couldn't. I realized soon after that it was because the ability was to "knockout the active pokemon" not doing damage. Thanks though
