People Who Use Existing Decks: Smart or Annoying?

Hey!

I don't know if this is just me, but I HATE players who, rather than experiment with creating their own decks, just put together copies of proven championship decks. People like that, in my opinion, are two things: lazy, and missing the point of Pokémon TCG (having fun with people and Pokémon).

My frustration may or may not be colored by the frequent losses I've had against these decks, hence this post.

Any outside opinions on copying championship-winning decks?

Honestly, I can totally get where you’re coming from. Running into the same top-tier decks over and over can be frustrating, regardless of the card game, especially when you’re excited about your own experimentation and trying out your ideas.

Though, I do think there is a little bit of reasoning for either or. Using existing decks can be a great way to learn the game, see what works and get to grips with current or previously thought metas and see what you, as a player, vibe with (playstyle-wise). That being said, there is something special about building your own deck and pulling off some random and wild strategy that no one expects. They are both valid in their own ways–and it can be extremely fun to find one of those weird and wacky ways to combat a championship deck.

    I don't play TCG, I'm a VGC person

However constantly running into one of the same 5 teams is SO frustrating

I wouldn't be surprised if that's a problem in TCG too

It's extremely hard to build your own competitive deck... many players live for that, so 99% of the time whatever you think is original someone has already thought of it.

Meta decks are played more often because they simply perform better... if your goal is to win that's your best option and usually that's what the majority wants... for those who just want to have fun feel free to try your own deck, but don't expect to win much... also there is no need to hate players for using meta decks...

We have a similar problem in VGC too..

Bleeping Golisopod and Charizard are in almost EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH.

I've been using an anti-meta Raichu X team but still😭

Throughout all time, Dragapult has the most of every single thing you could rank a deck by, points, earnings, tournament wins, day two finishes, top eight finishes. The list goes on, but you get the idea.
