Improve the Postcard Book: Search and Duplicate Prevention
Dear Pokémon GO Team,
I’m writing to suggest improvements to the Postcard Book, a feature I genuinely enjoy but increasingly struggle to manage as my collection grows.
Collecting postcards is a great way to preserve memories of places and build a personal collection. Unfortunately, the current organization tools make this experience unnecessarily frustrating. There is no way to search for a postcard by its location or title, and there is no alphabetical sorting option that makes it easy to find a specific postcard.
As a result, I frequently save duplicate postcards without realizing it. When a collection grows, checking every postcard manually becomes tedious and takes away from the enjoyment of collecting.
The most important improvement would be to prevent duplicate postcards from being saved in the first place. Before adding a postcard, the game should check whether that exact postcard already exists in the player's Postcard Book. If a duplicate is detected, the game should explain that the postcard is already saved and offer a shortcut to view the existing one. This check should identify the actual postcard, rather than relying on the location name alone, because different postcards can come from the same location.
The Postcard Book would also benefit significantly from a search field for postcard names and locations, alphabetical sorting, and a way to identify existing duplicates in a large collection. An export option would be another valuable addition for players who want to organize and back up their collections.
These improvements would reduce unnecessary manual work, keep collections organized, and make the Postcard Book much more enjoyable for dedicated collectors.
Good user experience should help players enjoy collecting rather than force them to work around limitations in the interface. Preventing duplicates at the point of saving, combined with proper search and sorting tools, would make a meaningful difference.
I hope the Pokémon GO team will consider these suggestions for a future update.
