The Mew and Ditto Unsolved Case (part 1)

Mew and Ditto
"For decades, fans have debated whether the pink blob Ditto is actually the result of botched genetic experiments to clone the mythical creature known as Mew before scientists finally succeeded in creating Mewtwo".

- The Moveset: In the original Red and Blue games, Mew and Ditto were the only two Pokémon in existence that naturally learned the move Transform.
- The Location: In Pokémon Yellow, wild Ditto can only be found spawning at high rates in the Pokémon Mansion on Cinnabar Island—the exact lore-heavy laboratory where Mewtwo was engineered.
Any body got some evidence for this case?

Those two similarities alone are enough to convince me, Detective!
However, I've got a bit more for ya!
The lab where Mewtwo was created was the only place you could catch Ditto at in Red and Blue
Maybe the failed experiments still reside where they were created at…?
That's my theory, cray!

I've never played a Kanto game so I'm basing heavily off your evidence, but I do have an interesting idea on this.The Unova entry (B/W & B2/W2) states that Mewtwo is "a Pokémon created by recombining Mew’s genes."
Mewtwo was obviously a semi-successful experiment focused on cloning Mew. Ditto, who can be found in the same area, shares weight, base color, shiny color, and signature move.
My speculation is the following: Ditto indeed was an unsuccessful Mew clone, but it was actually Mewtwo's prototype. We notice many, many similarities between Mew and Ditto, and Ditto was likely the first attempt, as it is "capable of copying an enemy’s genetic code to instantly transform itself into a duplicate of the enemy," according to the Red/Blue entry. Ditto is obviously an imperfect "clone" of a seemingly "perfect" being, meaning this was most likely a first attempt compared to the near-omnipotent Mewtwo.
Not only that, but Mewtwo's Red/Blue entry - the same game as the previous Ditto entry, states that "It was created by a scientist after years of horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments."
The "gene splicing" part caught my eye. Gene splicing is the practice of mingling with DNA genomes to replace, remove, or edit certain parts of a living organism's body. Often, gene splicing can go wrong and permanently remove a trait of a living organism. I believe that we see so many Ditto on Cinnabar Island and the Pokemon Mansion because they were a scientist's countless failed attempts to create a Mew clone.
Therefore, the "years of horrific gene splicing" described in Mewtwo's Red/Blue entry may have accidentally removed some of the genes creating the previous experiments', i.e. Mew and Ditto's, ability to Transform, and my final verdict is that Mewtwo is the result of a gene splicing freak accident, making it the merciless and untransformable being it is.
And with that, @crayZender, even though this is not a full argument, I hope it helps for future investigation.

Maybe it's just that you typed a lot of stuff that completely answered part of my question… Anyways, if you don't mind, could you give a nice little speech at 2:00 pm (if no one else has anything else to say about this). Basically, I need you or someone else who would like to be the judge and say that "Due to the evidence, it is obvious that Ditto was supposed to be a Mew, but the genetics side of the experiment went wrong, making a new Pokémon known as Ditto". If you don't want to do it, then I'm hiring you to be the deputy in finding a good judge. (whoever i the judge, please read through all the evidence from the suspects and me. If it proves enough, then you may close the case; if not, then I shall find more evidence to prove the point of the citizens who have testified their answers in this case).
