I like the idea of a light type as a reflection of dark type. However, since dark type is a localisation of "evil" type in the original Japanese, I suppose they would either have to make it "good" type (implying most Pokémon aren't inherently good) or add light type without a Japanese dark type.
Mind you, they could add a new light and dark type in Japanese, but that makes the preexisting localisation of dark in English confusing.
None of this is to mention all of the other languages and translations used in other languages.
I have liked the idea of a "wind" type. We could keep flying type for creatures with wings like birds or bats, then use wind type for Pokémon that otherwise fly or have an association with the air. The Forces of Nature and Rayquaza spring to mind.
If they did add a new type, I think it needs to be intuitive both which Pokémon are of that type and what their strengths and weaknesses would be. I still have to look up fairy type whenever I go back to a post-gen-5 game.
And do we really need a new type? Isn't the type chart confusing enough? I have been playing since the series began and I still forget certain matchups.
