I tried
I went to do a Pokémon nuzlocke.
It was for Pokémon X.
The one rule was very simple-
NO POKÉMON CENTERS.
That means no using their free healing, no using Poké Marts, and no accessing your boxes via the PC.
I also added no using Fly after a little while when I realized other people will heal your Pokémon and you could just fly to them all the time.
I failed in spectacular fashion.
I lost to Grant. Badly.
So I deleted my save data to try again someday…

I think the hardest part was no access to boxes! Meaning any Pokémon I put on my team stays for good…

ITS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS.
You can't take free healing except from NPCs outside of Pokémon Centers and you're only allowed to use those ONCE each
No Poké Marts meaning only items you get are the ones on the ground or from characters
No accessing your boxes meaning that any Pokémon you put on your team STAYS as a permanent decision
No using Fly

Not having access to Pokemon Centers seems like an unnecessary restriction when it comes to PP restoration. I know in Gen 1, you don't get Ethers until Mount Moon and Yellow version is particularly nasty because Pikachu can't beat Brock without significant grinding(level 15 for Double Team) or catching a Mankey and getting Low Kick at level 9. Good luck raising a Caterpie to level 10 for Butterfree without Pokemon Center healing.
I'm not an expert at Pokemon but I just don't see the allure of Nuzlockes.

Well, it's for when you find the normal game too easy. They do typically make them pretty simple since they're aimed at kids, right? So adding rules makes things a bit more challenging. I usually play any Pokémon game while trying to catch as few Pokémon as possible, so I have one team that feels my own. This was the first ever nuzlocke I tried but all the rules I'd heard for other ones felt so confusing I just decided to make my own.

Yeah trying to restore PP was a pain… usually though I'd get a free heal from someone just in time before a move was out of PP.
