I was really disappointed with Sword and Shield when I played them a few years ago, especially in terms of presentation. I felt they could have looked a lot better than they did on the Switch. The wild area in particular was really bad from what I remember. Also, the huge amount of Pokémon cut from them was another hard pill to swallow, and I don’t think dynamaxing was nearly as cool as mega evolutions were. The new Pokémon designs were pretty good, the story was decent and I like Galar as a region thematically, but overall the games were disappointing in my opinion. I gave Scarlet and Violet a shot a few years later hoping I would enjoy it more, but I came away from it feeling the same way I did about Sword and Shield. They aren’t bad games, but they could have been so much more.
