Hide ‘n’ Sneak Clarification
I’ve got a question about the Hide ‘n’ Sneak ability. Playing TCG live games, my opponent were able to hit my benched Hide ‘n’ Sneak pokemon with these moves: Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex’s (DRI 136) Shadow Bullet and Hydreigon ex’s (SSP 119) Obsidian. I see that Hide ‘n’ Sneak ability says damage isn’t an effect but the effects of these moves is whats doing the damage so shouldn’t it be prevented? Hide ‘n’ Sneak successfully blocks Munkidori’s and Dragapult’s ability / move ability (if I remember correctly) but I didn’t think this was a damage vs damage counter thing, but instead a move damage vs move ability thing. Could someone help clarify the rule on this for me?

The damage from Shadow Bullet and Obsidian (doesn't matter the text with different font) are considered attack damage even tho it's directed to the bench (like "does 30 damage to one benched"), not an effect.
So Hide n Sneak cannot block it… it only blocks actual effects, which are things like damage counters (from Munkidori or Dragapult), discarding energy, special conditions…
I think this is enough to understand the difference between effects and attack damage... but if you still have doubts feel free to say and I'll try to explain with more details.

@DoubleCure Okay so even though its in the move description, it counts as the move’s damage because the value is called “damage”, therefore not an effect of the move? Are you consistently clued into this behavior by the “This attack also does X damage” or the “(Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance…)” text?
