Claydol Ruling

I was having a battle using the Claydol card from Chaos Rising against the Manetric from Pitch Black. If Manetric uses Flashing Barrier (which prevents damage from evolution pokemon) but then Claydol uses Devolution Ray, then when the Manetric devolves wouldn't that remove the effect of Flashing Barrier? If so, does Electrike receive the damage or would the damage come into effect before the devolution?
I'm sorry if that's confusing, but I appreciate the help! 😅

Damage is usually calculated before an effect so i'm pretty sure it would go:
Claydol attacks using Devolution Ray
Damage of Devolution Ray Resolves
Manetric prevents the 50 Damage
Effect of Devolution Ray Resolves
Manetric Devolves into Electrike
Manetric is returned to hand
