Pokémon Showcases
This might be a little niche, but did anyone else really enjoy the Pokémon showcases in the XY anime series? I love the idea of them so much and they look so fun, I’d definitely be similar to Serena and perform if I was in the Pokémon universe! Kalos is already my favourite region, and they make me love it even more!
What do you guys think? What Pokémon would you perform with?

Could have sworn this was in the XY games or was it another rehash of Gen 3 and 4 with Coordinating. Given it's been so long since I watched a Gen 6 playthrough, I don't remember. Typically things in the games are represented in the Anime so for something to be Anime centric is rare.
As for the question at hand, Ninetales(Kanto + Alolan).

May replaced Misty so to give May a different path from our male protagonist, they gave her Coordinator path where she did quite well. Dawn replaced her during Sinnoh and opted to follow in her mother's footsteps(Coordinating). Iris, along with Gen 5, was a reboot to the old Gen 1-2 formula with two Gym Leaders assisting Ash(didn't help much given Ash's loss in Unova league is extremely disappointing) before Serena comes along in Gen 6. Yet instead of Coordinating, they opt to do Pokemon Performances and the difference(and probably why it's not on the games) is that Performances are exclusive to Female trainers. Males cannot participate like Ash did during end of Gen 3 and during Gen 4.
Also showcases were more for Coordinating. Performance or Performers is what Serena did.

I'm surprised you didn't know that. Every person who's watched XY ought to know it. Granted if Pokemon was all about inclusion, then the Gen 6 anime broke the mold with the female only avenue. Doesn't bother me all that much though. Just waiting for the Male-only reciprocation(which we know will never happen).

Well I don't remember it ever being explicitly stated so I kinda always assumed we never saw any of the male performers
We saw Harley and Drew because they were May's rival (one of them having a beautiful romance with her that was never finished... This is why I want a side series focused on May's adventures. She was one of my favorite characters in the series, I want to see her and Drew's relationship continue, and I need more Harley!)
Been too long since I watched DP so I don't remember if there were any males in that but in the games I'm pretty sure males do it too
So I just thought we never had a reason to see a male do it, only focusing on Serena (and occasionally Shauna and the girl with the Slurpuff)

There were male coordinators during Dawn's tenure. Most obvious is her childhood friend Kenny. Then there is Conway and Ash during the Wallace Cup.
As for May, you won't get a series, even if it's a side one because KAORI is her VA. Japan is very traditional when it comes to VA roles and since she won't VA, you won't get May in any meaningful capacity aside from 5 seconds of cameo.
Granted I wouldn't mind a secondary series tied to the Pokegirls. Episodes involving Misty, May(if only), Dawn, Iris, Serena, Bonnie(yes she is one), Chloe/Koharu(prefer Koharu) and the Alolan trio(Lana, Mallow and Lillie).
Also the girl with the Slurpuff was Miette. Every person worth their salt knows her, especially Amourshippers.
