Defending “ugly” Pokémon!
There are a LOT of people who find certain Pokemon… ugly 😢. I say that most of them aren’t really that ugly. (Except jynx and alolan raticate. Ew. And maybe a couple more but ANYWAYS) I’ve seen a bunch of people hating on venusaur. Like, c’mon! Leave the guy alone he looks awesome in my opinion! Or quaxwell. Sure, its giant pompadour takes some time to get used to but hey he’s got fashion lol. Bruxish looks odd, but that’s the point and I sorta like it. I think nosepass looks fine, just got a distinct look! Inspirational speech for no reason.

I feel the ur example of this is Trubbish. To this day I know people who refuse to play gen 5 because of it.
I think in the earlier days of Pokémon, especially gen 1, before the art, design and tone of the world and the Pokémon were all refined and streamlined, there were a lot more bizarre or "ugly" designs.
I think ugly Pokémon today are more garish than anything. Ugly colour pallettes or excessive details are more of a problem than something actually looking monstrous.

Are you making some kind of pun or joke? Because Charizard in Japanese is リザードン ("rizaadon" or Lizardon) and Emboar is エンブオー ("enbuō" or pretty much Emboar). I don't follow.

I totally agreee with you not liking Jynx, it’s too human and uncanny. But Bruxish?! I get it’s supposed to be weird, but did they REALLY have to make a fish with human lips? It’s too weird for me. Alolan Raticate I don’t like, but I don’t hate it. It’s ugly, but not disturbingly so. The others… sure, I know people say they’re ugly, but I don’t agree. They look fine to me.

Worse than ugly are those with poor design or nonsense capabilities.

I think a lot of my favorite Pokémon are the ones that often get called “ugly” or “uncreative”… for example, Trubbish and Garbodor are easily some of my favorite Pokémon, but they’re also some of the most hated :(
I think there aren’t really any Pokémon I would consider completely “ugly”, I can find something to like about all of them3 -
