(Champions) Tried to forfiet, game stuck in "Communicating"

So I was in a match on the doubles ranked ladder in Pokémon Champions. I managed to get the game down to a 1v1 faceoff between my opponent's Basculegion and my Garchomp. Both of us were damaged, and I went to select Earthquake, but then the realization hit me that my opponent would K.O. my Pokémon, as I had seen on the previous turn they were faster than my Garchomp and used Last Respects. Clearly they had the choice scarf, and there was no way my half-health Garchomp would live a 150 base power ghost type adaptability boosted physical move. So quickly after clicking my move, I hit the forfeit button. I figured "I'll just save us both some time and end this quickly", however this led to the "communicating" screen appearing, and not going away. I sat there for about 3 minutes contemplating what could be going wrong, so I closed and reopened the game, and I was met with a screen that said something like "An error occurred, the match could not be completed properly". I'm not sure if I lost points or not, because I did intend to forfeit, but I wanted to raise this issue in the hopes that it gets caught and not exploited. If people are losing they could just recreate this somehow to show their opponent "bad manners", or escape the penalty of a loss. Hopefully this isn't an abusable issue, but regardless I certainly hope it gets resolved quickly, whatever the issue may be. To avoid this I should have let the match play out, or forfeited at an earlier moment. I feel bad if my opponent was inconvenienced by this.

This same thing happened to me except i was winning the battle and waiting for 5 minutes or so. The game relaunched into the battle and it ended the game as a draw. If people learned how to exploit this then this is going to be bad for the game and i personally won’t wanna play it anymore.
