What do you mean?
I chose it because the other two are ugly
There has only ever been three Water starters that I prefer over the other options

Greninja
Quaquaval (although I've come to like Meowscarada more)
Usually I go Fire
Charizard (did ya see that coming?)
Blaziken
Infernape
Cinderace
For Alola, Decidueye and Incineroar tie
And then you have Feraligatr
I prefer it out of the three Johto starters but I didn't put it in my Water list because I don't actually like it
It just beats the other two
Now then, Inteleon deserves an honorable mention
It isn't cool enough to get choosen over Cinderace, but it is pretty awesome
Also, Sceptile
Awesome Pokemon but not good enough to be above Blaziken
Long story short, I don't see how nostalgia goes into this because I tend to lean away from the Water types in favor of Fire
