The last good villain we had was Volo

And right before him was Rose, which I think we can all agree wasn't performed properly

And then in S/V there was no villain

Even if Team Star was evil, they were not actually doing anything bad

And Kierran was just an emotionally scarred child that went crazy (but not bad)

All I'm saying is please don't continue down the road of "misunderstood" and "not actually bad"

Give me someone cruel with a whole organization that is very important to plot and not a random twist that couldn't be anticipated

Please

🥺🥺🥺

I actually don’t want a cruel villain with a big whole organization, I think it’s over used in Pokemon and just media in general. Mostly because I don’t really like story.

I don't think there necessarily needs to be a villain, either out of obligation to the Pokémon formula or storytelling conventions in general.

I want a well-written story with compelling characters. If that is achieved with no villain at all, so be it. The nature of the game necessitates an antagonist, though.

I will say however, I am getting a little tired of the sympathetic or redeemed villain trope. A non-subversive narrative where the bad guys are just bad would actually be a subversion in the modern media landscape.

At least give us jerk rivals like Green again. Bede was one of the things I actually liked about SwSh at first, but then he got abducted and groomed by the Fairy gym leader, and he lost most of his personality.

I love story and misunderstood villain is 100% my least favorite trope like your undermining all their actions to being misunderstood

The only way to do this trope well if it turns out to be a double bluff and there actually evil

I felt like Sada/Turo was a good villain so I don't know why your complaining about a real villain

I agree with this a lot!

I, personally, don't really care for the misunderstood villain stories

Unless there is a real villain behind them (like if they're infiltrating the villain team or they were being manipulated and they turn out to be a minor pawn in a larger game)

I love your idea of a double bluff, though!

    They should use that!

Pokemon's recent attempts at villains and especially villain teams feel half-hearted. What we need is variety and for the villains to be distinct in some way. Sadly, that requires time and effort I don't think the Pokemon Company is willing to spend.

They used to put the effort in

I hope they will again in the future (preferably near future)
