Super Mario Galaxy movie opening April 1st
I don't know about you but when I think of April 1st… my mind begins to wonder about whether its fake/prank. When it does come out though… easily $1.5 Billion worldwide haul given it has Yoshi. Played Yoshi alot back on Smash64. All Yoshi players arise and claim your rightful place. Also… I yearn for Tyrunt/Tyrantrum to swallow the competition 🙄

It's worth noting that 1st April is the start of the Japanese financial year. Schools start their new academic year, new employees start work, new laws go into effect and major corporations announce all their upcoming projects and products.
It is not unusual for a Japanese brand to announce or launch new products on 1st April. But equally it is often a source of great confusion as to why the rest of the world thinks they're joking.

Its more of a meme joke if anything because April 1st is April Fools so people post outrageous things on April 1st. Sometimes people fall for it, but often times people realize its April 1st and figure out its fake. The news regarding the movie isn't that big though. All they did was move it from Friday, April 3rd to Wednesday, April 1st.
