Professor Fir's Learning Lab is coming to Pokémon TCG Live
Practice Makes Perfect in Professor Fir’s Learning Lab!
As Pokémon TCG Live celebrates the arrival of the much-anticipated Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes expansion and gears up for the 2026 Pokémon TCG Standard rotation, we are thrilled to also announce a new way for players of any skill level to answer the call of the Pokémon Trading Card Game—welcome to Professor Fir’s Learning Lab!
Soft launching on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, ahead of the official release on Thursday, January 29, 2026, The Learning Lab is a permanent, expandable game mode that provides on-demand gameplay tutorials at multiple skill levels for players to engage with in Pokémon TCG Live. The Learning Lab will consist of several different classrooms, each of which can contain a variety of lessons that help you explore key concepts from the Pokémon TCG.
At launch, you’ll be able to explore two unique classrooms:
- The Basic Classroom will serve as a space for players to (re)play modules found in our current first-time player experience. Here, you’ll be able to review basic topics including Energy management, attacks, HP, and Pokémon Evolution.
- The Standard Classroom will provide extended training beyond what is offered as part of the first-time player experience. These lessons will help players to fill in any outstanding gaps they might have as they prepare to hold their own when competing in Standard Ranked play. Here, you’ll explore additional concepts such as Stadium, Item, and Supporter cards, performing deck searches, and other key elements of the current meta.
Who should use The Learning Lab?
All players are welcome in The Learning Lab, and over time we hope to add lessons that will intrigue even intermediate and advanced players of Pokémon TCG Live. However, The Learning Lab is especially useful in cases such as:
- Introducing a friend, parent, or other family member to the Pokémon Trading Card Game for the first time
- Brushing up on your skills after an extended absence from playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game
- Reviewing skills you might be struggling with during your climb up the Ranked Ladder in Pokémon TCG Live
What’s next for The Learning Lab?
Moving forward, we plan to continue supporting The Learning Lab through the release of additional classrooms that align with key moments such as seasonal rotations, new game modes (including Trainer Trials challenges), new deck grants, and fresh game mechanics as they roll out as part of new and upcoming expansion sets. While many classrooms will be permanent, others may only be available for a limited time.
As part of a future release, we also plan to add the ability to gain rewards for completing these lessons. For those who plan to complete lessons as soon as The Learning Lab becomes available, don’t worry—you’ll still be eligible to claim these rewards once this functionality arrives.
