A moment of Appreciation
I just wanted to say thank you for participating in All Icy is Blue. It went better than I thought it would be and It was surprisingly fun. The next event is 151 Memories where you can only use kanto pokemon and this will be in February! So until then, Thank you!

Eh.. Mew is certainly possible for those who have RBY like I do. laughs maniacally but in all seriousness, this ought to be fun(for me at least since I still have Gen 1). Yellow version doesn't have Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill, Koffing/Weezing, Ekans/Arbok, Meowth/Persian, Electabuzz, Magmar, Jynx, Trade Evolutions(Gengar/Alakzam/Golem unless I had someone to Trade with locally(which I don't). Machamp is the ONLY Trade Evolution you can get but requires a Cubone via in-game Trade) and Mew. Lickitung + Mewtwo are locked to the post-game but every other Pokémon can be found/caught in the game, although you can only have one of the Fossils and only one of the Eevee evolutions in any given playthrough. Via the Trainer-Fly glitch though, all of those Pokémon above can eventually be caught, with Magmar being caught as early as Route 11(east of Vermilion) and Safari Zone Pokemon caught much earlier(Chansey on Route 6, Pinsir via S.S. Anne, Scyther via Rock Tunnel just to name a few). Lapras can be obtained earlier too via this method and ditto Mew, Gengar and other Trade Evolutions. Even Mewtwo can be obtained before the post-game via the method but requires using Ditto on Cinnabar Island(because they couldn't give Yellow the same Ditto spawn on Route 15).
So now I have to think about which Kanto Pokemon to utilize. I am open to suggestions but I reserve the right to accept/refuse.
Edit: Forgot that Raichu isn't in Yellow either because Pikachu won't evolve(even Pikachu you trade over won't evolve but I have no way of testing that). The upside to Pikachu though is that it natively learns Thunderbolt at level 26 or has the same learn-set as it does in Gold/Silver/Crystal. Thing is even with the native Thunderbolt, it's base Special is 50. I'd rather get Magneton and enjoy 120 or heck Jolteon and take its insane Speed for the Critical Hits(which is Base Speed/2 or ~65%).
Right now, I'm inclined to go with the following team next month:
Electabuzz(Electric), Mew(Psychic), Sandslash(Ground), Parasect(Bug/Grass), Vaporeon(Water) and Ninetales(Fire)Electabuzz won't be caught until Cycling Road(certain Trainer yields the desired result), Mew comes from a couple Trainers near Cerulean(although the notable one is the Slowpoke Youngster on Route 25), Sandshrew is Route 3, Paras is Mount Moon, Eevee is in Celadon City and Vulpix is Rocket Game Corner. Pikachu makes a fine placeholder and Flash slave until I get Electabuzz and grind him into relevance. Only downside to Mew is that its a 600 BST monster that doesn't learn Psychic until 40. If Mew is banned, I'll simply use a different Psychic type(maybe Starmie if I set my mind to it and hence Jolteon instead of Electabuzz… not sure what my 6th Pokémon will be then.. maybe Fearow for a Flying type).

Forgot to add that Raichu doesn't appear in Yellow either because… Pikachu won't evolve. Even Pikachu you trade over won't evolve either but I have no way of testing/confirming that. Needless to say I've done Raichu, albeit getting it insanely late via Trainer-Fly Glitch via Ditto. For February, I'm inclined to go with the following team: Jolteon(haven't used him in a long time… Pin Missile on Sabrina…), Starmie(ditto), Ninetales(Vulpix for life), Nidoqueen(need someone for Brock), Parasect(underrated against Misty with Stun Spore + Leech Life at 20, counters Sabrina too with Spore + Leech Life), and Aerodactyl(I've never used it in 26+ years… sad I know).
