Chapter 2: Sofia's Perfect Life
I groan as I stir awake, sitting up with a yawn. I was dreaming about my past. The day my life was forever fixed. That was almost two years ago. Tomorrow will be the two year anniversary of the Daylights taking me in. I look around the room at the dark purple walls covered in posters of my favorite shows and musicians. It's easy to forget how bland this room used to be.
I sigh and stretch as I get out of my bed, the same one that the Daylights gave me two years ago. Now, though, it has black sheets and a thick dark gray blanket with maroon pillows. I look outside at the farm fields.
We have many different plants and berries we produce here, but my favorite area is the Sitris Berry trees. Speaking of which, a Snorlax is eating from them! I groan, waking out my room. I then go to the door right next to mine and knock.
"Zane, come on," I say. "A Snorlax is stealing our berries!"
Zane opens his door, his posture slumped and eyes barely open. It's obvious that I wokr him. "Alright," he states as he stretches, arms in the air and bending his back. "Let's go."
We go downstairs, where the living room is surprisingly empty. Usually everyone is in here in the morning watching the new episodes of "Who's That Pokémon?" They must still be in bed. I continue to the front door, putting my black jacket on as I go outside.
Me and Zane march up to the Snorlax. "Hey," I shout at it. It ignores me. "You can't eat those! Stop and please leave!"
The Snorlax chuckles, stuffing more berries into its mouth. "What makes you think you can tell me that," it questions, not actually expecting an answer.
"Because this is my family's farm. We didn't give you permission to eat these so you need to quit," I tell it. Snorlax looks at me with shock.
"You can understand me," it asks.
"Yeah, she can," Zane states, stepping forward. "Now get over it and leave!"
The Snorlax laughs and continues eating, unbothered by us. I sigh. "Look, if you don't leave willingly, I'll have to battle you to make you. And trust me, I really don't want to do that."
The Snorlax just smirks as I say this. Zane pops his knuckles. "Last chance, buddy," he tells it, getting ready to attack.
It does nothing, clearly thinking we aren't a threat. "Close Combat," I command sadly. The words feel awful to say, bringing back many unwanted memories of my training.
Zane launches himself at the opponent, slamming its fists and feet into Snorlax. He hits it so hard, the Sleeping Pokémon's eyes open, something I didn't know was possible! Zane finishes with one more powerful blow, sinking his fist so deep into the eater's stomach that it can be seen in its back.
The Snorlax gets blasted back, bouncing off the ground a couple times before crashing into a (very sturdy) fence. "We're not gonna tell you again," Zane yells, pointing his finger towards the exit. "GET OUT!"
"Alright, geez, I'm leaving," the Snorlax exclaims, getting up quickly. It practically bounces from foot to foot as it hurries away, causing the ground to shake.
While yes, I'm still irritated that I had to battle, the sight brings me much joy. "I've never seen a Snorlax move that fast," I say with a laugh.
"Neither have I," Zane says with a wide smile.
"Everything alright out here," a soft, sweet voice hollers. One that brings comfort to every part of my soul. I turn to the woman approaching. Her blonde hair is up in a ponytail and she's wearing a white T-Shirt with bright blue jeans. Her bright blue eyes are looking at me with concern.
"Everything is fine, mama," I tell her. "Just a Snorlax trying to eat our berries. I took care of it."
Mama nods. "You didn't have to fight, did you," she asks worriedly. "I know how much you hate it."
Zane chuckles. "It was barely a battle."
I shake my head. "Not much," I tell her. "Just one move and we were done."
"You didn't have to do that," Mama says. "You could have had me, Ma, or one of your brothers do it! We don't want you to do things that hurt you."
"I know. But I want to help out," I respond. "Y'all have done so much for me that if one battle let's me repay you even just a bit then I'll do it."
Mama sighs. "How many times must we tell you. We don't want repaid. You're family." She looks at the trees. "But, even with that being said, we still appreciate when you help." She smiles at me with that kind, proud look that makes me swell with pride. "Now go get your hands washed. Ma made lunch."
"Ooh! What did she make," I ask excitedly.
"Sandwiches," Mama replies, much to my disappointment. I groan.
"But that's what we had yesterday," I whine as we walk back to the house. Zane, on the other hand, is practically jumping for joy.
"I know," he exclaims. "I love her sandwiches. She always puts the mayo on juuuust right!"
Sadly, I can't argue with that. She puts the perfect amount on, that way it's taste-able but not overpowering. How she does it, I'll never know.
As we enter the house, my brothers Jeremy and Zach come rushing to us. Jeremy is 16, tall, has short brown hair, and dark green eyes. Zach is 13, average height, long blonde hair, and light brown eyes. The two were here before I was but accepted me immediately and we quickly created a close bond. Not as close as they are with Zane, though.
"Dude, Poké Fighters V just came out today," Jeremy exclaims, the two running right past me for Zane, who's eyes are wide with shock.
"Really," he asks, smiling widely when the other two nod. "That's awesome!"
"Yeah, I know," Zack agrees. "And we've saved up enough money to buy it! Wanna play it tonight?"
"Of course I do," the monkey responds.
"We knew you would," Jeremy tells him.
"Are y'all sure y'all can't communicate with Pokémon," I question. "Because it seems like y'all can."
The two boys shake their heads. "Can't hear a word," Zach states.
"But we can tell what he's saying," Jeremy says. "We understand him."
Zane nods along, putting his arms around their shoulders. "They're my bros," he tells me. "They get me."
"Facts," Zach mutters, nodding in agreement. I sigh.
"Whatever. Have fun with your bros," I say, putting a sarcastic emphasis on the last word. "I'm gonna go wash up for lunch." I leave the three and head upstairs to the bathroom.
I flick the light on and turn the water on, going through the motions of hand washing. As I do, I look in the mirror. My pure white hair is dyed dark purple with maroon at the tips. My gold eyes are still there, but I normally puts color changing contacts in. I'll do that later though.
It might not seem like a big change, but to me it is. Arceus cursed me with physical attributes that match its color scheme to further prove that I am its Chosen One. So changing the bright white to a dark color and covering my eyes that match the gold of its power feels like a small but efficient way to show that Arceus isn't all I am, like my village tried to make me think.
I dry my hands off and go back downstairs to the kitchen. Zane is seated there already, drumming his fingers on the table. The boys are already done eating and in the living room watching a dumb rom-com ("Not dumb," they tell me. "Emotionally moving but yet funny."). I take a seat at the table.
"Here y'all go," says a woman with short brown hair and matching brown eyes. She's wearing a white T-Shirt and black shorts. Her body is tanned from many hours of working in the sun and very built from years of heavy labor working on a farm. At first glance she seems tough and kind of aggressive, but she's actually very loving and caring when you get to know her.
"Thanks, Ma," me and Zane reply in unison, beginning to eat. I look at her and notice more burns on her skin.
"Ma," I state with a sigh. "Did you forget sunscreen again?"
She raises her eyebrow. "So what if I did," she questions.
"I'm just saying I don't think it's smart to not wear sunscreen on a sunny day in 81 degree weather," I tell her.
"And I don't think it's smart to wear all black, especially a black jacket, on a sunny day in 81 degree weather," she counters with a smirk.
I nod my head. "Ya know, I guess you're fine," I say quietly, taking a bite into my sandwich.
"Figured you would," Ma remarks, going back to the dishes.
"I'm wearing a tank top instead of long sleeves under it if that makes it any better," I tell her.
"It doesn't," she replies. I sigh with a shrug and go back to my food.
"Finished," Zane exclaims, handing his empty plate to Ma.
"Took you long enough," Jeremy shouts. The two dashing up to him. "Ready to go play some Ultimate Ball?"
It's a game Zach and Jeremy made. You take a soccer ball, carry it around, and use brute force to take it from others. You then slam it into a basket. There are no rules or fouls, so it is a very aggressive and dirty game.
"I mean, I would…" Zane tells them slowly. "But it's Sophia's birthday and I don't want to leave her alone…"
"Come on, dude," Zach begs. Zane looks at me, hopeful I'll tell him to do it. I roll my eyes.
"I'll be fine," I tell him. He doesn't even wait for me to finish saying that before pushing away from the table, running outside with the boys.
"Boys," Zelena, Jeremy's Gardevoir says with a disappointed tone. "So rough and uncivilized!"
"You coming, Zelena," Zach hollers.
"How can I refuse when they insist like that," Zelena then says, running away quickly to join them. I'll never understand her.
It's now just me and my moms, who sit down across the table from me with concerned looks. "We need to talk," Mama says softly.
"Okay…" I respond slowly, starting to get worried. "What is it?"
"So you've lived with us for two years now," Ma tells me. "But we haven't actually been able to adopt you due to needing your birth parents to sign over their rights over you."
"That's correct," I reply, unsure where this is going. Are they going to return me because we can't officiallize it?
"As you know, it's your birthday and we wanted to surprise you by officially adopting you, but we didn't know if you wanted to come with us when we meet your bios in case there's anything you want to say to them," Mama explains. Relief washes over me.
"I though this was going in a different direction," I exclaim with a laugh. "Also, no. I don't want to. I don't want anywhere near those people ever again."
"We figured that would be your answer but we wanted to make sure," Ma says. "We'll get to it as soon as we can!"
I smile widely, excited. I already think of myself as family, but making it official feels so much better! "Thanks, guys!"
The two nod. "Now for a complete change of subject I don't have the ingredients to make your cake," Mama tells me. "Would you mind running out and getting them?"
"No problem," I reply happily. Mama hands me the cash to get the food.
"And nothing extra," Ma states. "Get what's needed only."
I nod. As I begin to walk off, Mama grips my wrist tighter and puts some extra in there. "Get you something for your birthday," she whispers. "But don't tell Ma!"
I smile excitedly and Ma gives us a knowing smile and rolls her eyes. I then run outside, thinking life couldn't get better than this.

Alright, so I edited it
I've been working in this for over 3 days and it took me much multitasking
There weren't many errors, but the ones that were there were pretty major (in my opinion)
For example, Zelena said "tough and uncivilized" but it was supposed to be "rough and uncivilized"
In my opinion that's a really big change of meaning
Also, random thing, I feel like the beginning is a bit choppy
It's not too bad, but it's a bit weird
I'm keeping it as is, though
Anyways, now I hope you enjoy!

After the amount of books I have read I am wondering how this will go south. Like, when she comes back will the house be burned down and raided, will she be ambushed along the way, also if she gets attacked will it be arceus trying to bring her in or bad guys abducting her? Please don’t answer this btw I want to read it when the next one is ready.

@Hades0918 Are you going to give Sophia more Pokemon? I think it'd be cool for her to have a porygon since it's not a natural Pokemon.
